What to do on July 1? My favourite thing would be a family bike ride. Happily, the neighbours had the same idea, and so off we went. Here is all of us before the ride.

On the way through High Park, we ran into someone with a wonderful Long John type cargo bike, custom built by True North Cycles, with a bike box by Wike. For those interested in cargobikes, I’ve added a link to the “Cargobikes in Canada” page on the list of links to the right.

Here is a close up of the centrestand.

This was the first time this season we were down on the Martin Goodman trail. I hadn’t seen the bicycle traffic signals before. Wonderful. To the left, you can see the preparations for the Molson Honda Indy……less wonderful.

Here is one of my favourite views of the city, from the Ward’s Island Ferry.

Here is one of Manuel Cappel’s cargo bikes on its home turf.

This was one of our first rides as a two tandem family.

A wonderful way to spend July 1. On a day like today, it is easy to appreciate how blessed we are in where we live.
Happy Birthday Canada.
Wow, I do believe this post has the largest collection of non-conventional bicycles of any Toronto blog I’ve seen. Outstanding. I remember when it was rare to see anything other than a beat up mountain bike, classic beater or a road bike on Toronto’s streets. Now, not a day goes by where I don’t see a tandem or a cargo bike or a dutch-style city bike. Perhaps living closer to Curbside is the reason. Anyways, great post and it looks like a lot of fun.
Wow, what a wonderful outing with the families. Last year you had the girls along with us on our return ride back to Niagar Falls. The bike train group and i wish you could have come along a little further. Enjoy the kids they will be grown up before you realize it!
