Hey I won second prize in the Planet Bike Bike Fender Haiku Contest!

Too bad that I didn’t score first prize, which was a pair of pink Cascadia Fenders, but I’ll be getting a white pair.
My entry:
Spring brings rain and wet
all these fenderless bikes:
ducks ride them perhaps?
Note the seasonal reference, and the use of both punctuation and a question as kireji. In truth I read about the contest on Facebook, reviewed the rules of haiku on Wikipedia, and then a couple of minutes later e-mailed in my entry.
The duck reference comes from the fact that my daughters call my bright yellow rain suit a “duck suit”.
Congrats! Quack quack! I love my fenders…and think your haiku was the best.
Congrats!
I read in another website (EcoVelo) that you have some Berthoud fenders on one of your bikes. How do you like those so far? I’m thinking of getting them, although I’m quite concerned about traveling with them. I’m thinking of getting an EVOC bike travel bag and hope that removed fenders will fit in it. Anyway, would love to hear your comments.
the Berthouds have been fantastic. I have them on my winter beater. The stainless fenders are much more durable than either plastic or aluminum. I finally broke the struts on the rear fender by dropping the full weight of my bike on the fender when taking the bike off of a wall hook. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a local source for replacement Berthoud hardware, and so I had to cobble something together using VO hardware, which is not nearly as nice.
