Today was my last bike commute for the year. It being a snowy Saturday during the holidays, traffic was very light.
My route was a little different than the usual since I had to run an errand on Queen St.
Kudos to the city for keeping the West Toronto Railpath clear of snow.

I rode behind this poor guy for a while on Queen St. W. He eventually turned into the Beer Store. I guess he was returning empties.

One downside to bringing a snowy bike indoors is the drippage.

When taking the preceding picture, I noticed that I had lost my taillight. I’ve had problems with the Planet Bike Superflash taillights popping off the mount before, and I’ve started taping them shut, but I forgot to do this for my winter beater. Usually, if the rear part of the taillight flies off, I can hear it hit the road and circle back, but in the snow not so much. I’m almost as bummed at losing the two rechargeable AAA cells as well.

This year’s grand total is 226 round trips, which is pretty much every working day that I wasn’t out of town. If you look at the stats, you can see that there is a significant increase in the number of commutes during Dec-March starting in 2008, which is when I started using studded tires. Schwalbe Winter Marathons rule!

I wish everyone good fortune and safe riding in the coming year.
