This morning, I had an appointment in North York, and so I took the first subway train towards Yonge, and then up the Yonge line to Finch. One of the oddities of the TTC is that the subway doesn’t run until after 9 am on Sunday mornings.
Almost all the riders rode all the way up to Finch as well. It turns out that many of them were going on a training ride in advance of a big charity ride.
I was headed to the other side of a commuter parking lot to meet the U of Toronto HPV Design Team. They were preparing for an event in Waterford MI in a couple of weeks, and so they wanted some new members to get some seat time in their bike.
While I was waiting, I noticed the new Multiple Use Path that was under construction in the Finch Hydro corridor. I rode out as far as Jane St. to check it out. According to one of the pedestrians who was out for a stroll, it has been under construction since last fall, and it should eventually connect up to Dufferin.
It’ll be interesting to see how much it gets used. It will certainly be a nice recreational amenity for people in the neighbourhood. Since it does terminate at a subway stop, there is the potential for commuters to use it. I hope that they are planning to put a whole bunch of bike racks in at the subway station.
A big thank you to the team for letting me try out the bike; it made my day.
