Hallowe’en is always a busy time, and I get to channel my inner Geekdad when I help out with costumes. Over the last couple of years, I’ve had a couple of Bike Glow electroluminescent wires around the house. The Bike Glows are great on the bike, but they are also fun to integrate into costumes.
Last year was the tail end of the Silly Bandz craze, and the older daughter wanted a giant Silly Band to wear on her head. She has always been obsessed with dogs as well, and so I made a coroplast outline and we taped a bike glow to the perimeter. The costume was a big hit, but the poor kid came home and asked “Daddy, what’s a bonehead?”
This year, the younger one is Inky the Indigo Fairy, and she has a set of glowing wings, as well as a bike blinky magic wand.
The older one won’t let me make costumes for her for some reason.
