It was one of my favorite bikes, a 1992 Bridgestone RB-1 in excellent condition, with all original parts except the saddle (even the original front tire, with the rear being an exact replacement). I was the original owner, and I bought it from Wheel and Sprocket when I moved to Milwaukee many moons ago. It was the bike that got me back into biking.
It rode like a dream, and one could argue that it was one of the finest production steel bikes ever made. Certainly these folks wouldn’t disagree.
I ran into the prospective buyer at the Toronto Vintage Bike Show and I know that it is going to a good home.
Despite the fact that it was a wonderful bike with lots of sentimental value, the reality was that it was just hanging in the garage, and I think that when I test rode it yesterday, it was the first time in two or three years it had been ridden.
Now excuse me while I go pour myself another beer…..
