About forty riders showed up at Bloor and Spadina for the annual ride of silence.
This ride is to remember all those who have been killed while riding a bike. This is the tenth anniversary of the first ride of silence. There are many such rides worldwide held on the same day every year at about 7 in the evening. I think that this is the fourth or fifth ride in Toronto.
There were some of toronto’s finest at the start, offering a police escort, but after they saw that the crowded was comparatively small, they decided that we could conduct the ride ourselves and left just before the stat.
Thanks to all who came out to ride. Special thanks to the relatives and friends of Tom Samson who passed away last November. His father said a few words at the end that were deeply touching.
