Now that’s a title that I didn’t expect to be typing today. I went down to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Sherbourne separated bike lanes.
I see that the lane markings at Gerrard have been fancied up since the last time I was here.
Shortly before the appointed hour, there was a thrill that ran through the assembled crowd (of media) when someone spotted the Mayor’s Escalade.
My favorite moment was near the end when M-W asks a questioner if he is a member of the media, and then follows up with “this is only for questions from the media”.
One thing that struck me about this event was that several times, a couple of people walking or driving by shouted out their support for the Mayor. One older women in particular yelled at the reporters swarming the Mayor at the end to “leave him alone”. They seemed to have more respect for the office than the incumbent does himself.
Apologies for the crap photos. I only had my phone with me at the time.
NOW Toronto coverage here.
Wayne’s video of some of the remarks and the Q&A.
