This weekend is the Big on Bloor festival, where Bloor St. is given over the pedestrians between Lansdowne and Dufferin. This is a rather down at heels section of Bloor that has slowly been turning around.
I liked this bike – scooter pair that I saw locked up near Lansdowne.
This fellow was hawking some safety lights for bikes.
including a small “emergency light” under the saddle, and the larger taillight that uses two lasers to define a “virtual bike lane” behind your bike.
Sweet Pete’s and Broadway Cycles also had booths.
Just short of Dufferin, Cycle Toronto was running a bike valet service, which I didn’t use since I was just walking my bike through in one direction. I was surprised that they had not collected very many bikes.
There seemed to be more vendors this year, and also many more volunteers. Of course, the weather was better than last year. I hope that they get a good crowd out this evening, as well as tomorrow afternoon.
