Testing continued on Friday. It was mainly about trying out Bluenose with slight variations in setup.
One of the things added first thing in the morning was a nose vent. Looks a bit large, doesn’t it?
Here is the piece intended to fit the hole. It was 3D printed on Tuesday, and Ante stayed up late into the night to have it ready for pickup early Wednesday morning so that I could deliver it to Michigan. Thanks Ante!
Here Calvin and Alan check the fit before the piece is bonded.
Here is Bluenose running in the morning with nose vent, the video system,
and a tailfin.
Between runs, working on the bike.
Here is the stupidest tool in the HPVDT toolbox. Apparently the rear skewer on Vortex has a pentagonal socket as a theft deterrent (extra points at ASME).
In the second set of runs we had several bikes out on the track at once. Here is Aakash getting ready in Ace.
The three amigos.
Meanwhile, Florian is steadily accumulating seat time in Norus. Each time he is a little faster.
Mike reports that late Friday, Florian reached 50 mph.
Here is Aakash out on the track. Watch out for that van behind you!
Aakash is rolled into the staging area after his run.
Florian is caught.
Todd gets set for another run.
Bluenose after the run.
Todd clowns around with shadows.
After the 6 pm set of runs, I had to take off with part of the team to return before the weekend. The remainder of the team planned to run for the rest of the weekend. I’ll check in with them after they get back.
Another big thank you to our hosts at Ford for allowing access to their fantastic facilities.
