It’s been good weather to test out a new pair of gloves that I got. Now that the Canadian distributor for Glo Gloves appears to have disappeared, I put in an order to Night Gear, and I noticed a bright yellow pair of work gloves that were only $16, so I ordered a pair to compare with my other pair of yellow Pearl Izumis that I bought last year. I’ve been biking to work with the two different gloves so that I can compare their warmth.
Conclusion thus far: the cheaper work gloves are a bit warmer than the Pearls. Earlier this year, I said that the Pearls are only comfy down to +5°C or so. The work gloves are pretty good at 0°C, but would be marginal for extended rides.
Somewhat surprisingly, the work gloves were more reflective than even the glo gloves. I would recommend them as an inexpensive choice for night time riding in moderate cold. Otherwise, my first choice would still be whatever weight glove is appropriate to conditions, topped with the glo glove.
Bundle up, get lit, and ride safe everyone.
