pre-Christmas ice storm
December 24, 2013 by jnyyz
A great deal of southern Ontario got hit by freezing rain over a couple of days. As a result, there were widespread power outages. Our power went out early Sunday morning.
Life slows down when there are no electrically powered distractions.
Walking around the neighbourhood, we take in some of the damage from downed trees, such as this lovely elm by Western Tech. Note also the branches blocking the road in the background.
I’ve seen this folder chained to this fence for a while. I wonder how long it’s been since it was ridden.
As darkness descends, like any cyclist, I get out the collection of headlights, which are going to be re-purposed as indoor lighting.
Candles and cards always work.
Reading a little before bed.
The next morning, warming up at Crema Coffee.
Fortunately, the power came back on around 10pm, so we didn’t have to find out how cold we would get during a second night.
This morning, I was stocking up on replacement groceries. It was good to get out and about on the bike.
I hope that those of you still without power get it back as soon as possible!
