Today is going to be my last commute of the year, since I am pretty sure I am not coming into the office the following two days! It was a comparatively balmy 3°C on the way in.
Just a short post-Xmas update on the Sub Zero. I’ve been liking it a lot. The upright riding position is well suited to dealing with snow (the swept back Velo Orange Left Bank handlebars help). Moreover, this bike is the easiest of my entire fleet to ride no hands.
The Handlebar Booties add at least 10°C to the warmth of my hands.
Just a couple of other notes. One thing is that this bike was advertised as having all stainless hardware, but clearly the fender struts are not. I also have some doubts about the powercoated steel fenders.
The second thing is the vestigial rear mudflap, which is in a zone where I do not want to be.
I’ll add a flap to this, and also a mudflap for the front as well.
Finally, I am still searching for a viable way of mounting a kickstand to this puppy.
