Here we are, bright and early on Sunday morning. The weather looks better today, after another cold evening camping out. Several people are suffering from a distinct lack of coffee.
First order of business, the 200 ft. sprint, flying start. Here are the racers staging at the top of the hill. For here, they will get some speed downhill, turn one corner, and then go through the traps.
Last minute adjustments to Vortex. As a side note, a while ago I recycled a bunch of my old bike gear through the team, and you can see Calvin wearing a TCBA jersey.
Dennis waits at the top of the hill. He won in several categories over the weekend. His lowracer can be converted from two wheeler to leaning trike.
Trefor getting ready to launch Calvin.
This is a picture of me riding down the hill so that I can take more pictures at the finish.
Terry and Mike E working timing.
Warren through the traps.
Jim I working hard. This weekend, he was faster than me all around. I am going to have to train to keep up with him!
Dr. Mike and Calvin setting a new tandem track record.
Bruce Gordon on the trike.
Next up, the trike race through the paddock area. Here is eventual winner Dennis chasing down the leader.
Then short track races of 20 laps each. First, the streamliner race. Here are the racers on the grid.
Marc gets in the zone.
Rose Hulman gets ready.
A Milan velomobile in action. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good picture of it two wheeling it around a corner.
Dennis and Warren playing cat and mouse.
Rose Hulman in action.
Warren and Wally.
Dennis in traffic.
Unfortunately, Warren flatted during the race.
The final race: the stock class short track race.
Florian listens in on some trash talk at the start 😉
Trefor has the lead on the first lap, and is being chased by the fast guys.
Florian, cool as ever, looks at the camera while being chased by Warren and Mike.
Calvin working hard on the lowracer.
Alan in traffic.
Thomas on a too small Speedlite.
Amanda in traffic.
Lots of racers.
Rose Hulman again.
Calvin with the race leaders, Dennis and Mike, but one lap down.
Isaac in traffic.
It was a photo finish at the end, with Mike just holding off Dennis by a foot. I hope someone got a picture of the finish.
Here is the whole team after a fun weekend of racing. We have lots of fresh blood, and hopefully it will be a productive summer as we prepare for Battle Mountain in the fall.
Thanks to Donna for taking this picture.
Thanks to Mike M, Mike E, Bill, Terry and Bruce for running such a great event. It was also great to see the two other large groups: Rose Hulman, and Team Kowalik.
