I’m been a fan of the MKS EZY Superior pedals that are easily detachable, which makes them handy for the Brompton when I suitcase the bike. I posted about them before, and here is an image from that post.

The clipless pedal is a proprietary MKS design called US-B, and this pedal may not be made anymore. Certainly this pedal doesn’t seem to be in stock anywhere.
I’ve been taking advantage of the snow free, salt free weather to ride my Tamarack, and I’ve put these pedals on that bike.

Unfortunately my one set of cleats for these pedals were worn to the point that one of my shoes was not clipping in at all. However, I did read that the pedals were allegedly compatible with Time MTB cleats, even though they look a bit different. Here are the new and old cleats, with the most worn one to the right.

I’m happy to report that the new cleats work.
Eventually the plan would be to move over to SPD which is much more common, but MKS has been slow to make an SPD compatible pedal. They have made a detachable double sided SPD compatible pedal, but for some reason they only offer it in the EZY version.

More recently they released a second SPD pedal called “solution” that has the EZY Superior mounting, but it is much more bulky since it has a platform on one side. This new pedal appears to be sold out everywhere.

Even more puzzling: I just realized that the “solution”pedal is listed as discontinued.
I’ll have to sort this all out before a planned trip in April with the Brompton.
