Today was Winter Bike to Work Day, with over 10,000 people world wide pledging to bike to work. As you can see from this chart, Toronto came in eighth, behind both Montreal and Calgary.
Not a surprise that Oulu Finland was right up there in the final standings, as this article mentions that the event had a connection with that city.
Ironically, it was quite a bit colder this morning that on the recent “Coldest Day of the Year Ride“. Seven brave souls gathered at High Park at 8 to ride in together, including bike event stalwarts Joey and Hyedie.
Joey was riding a borrowed bike, since his bike was stolen a few weeks ago, right outside his apartment door. Still didn’t seem to slow him down much.

Last week I finally got around to changing out the chain on my winter bike. It was originally a galvanized “rust resistant” chain, but after just two winters, it looked pretty bad.
A little searching on Amazon turned this up.
and here it is swapped in.
It is prettier, and I can imagine that I feel a little less drag. We’ll see how it holds up.
