Tonight was one of the first Critical Mass rides that I’ve been on for a number of years. Over 30 riders showed up, which was a pretty good turn out considering that the weather forecast was for rain later this evening.
Ben wanted proof that he was there at the start of the ride.
Here we go down Bloor. Sorry for the motion blur.
That’s better.
Gerry corks a Lambo. You can bet that it really took off after being released.
Here we go down Yonge St.
Nick, Warren and I making sure everything is safe at the back of the pack.
Stopped at Yonge/Dundas.
This was perhaps the most colourful bike / rider combination.
Making a turn onto Queen.
The original plan was to finish up at Nathan Phillips Square. However at this point we had only been riding for about 30 minutes, and so the consensus was to keep going. Here we are on Richmond.
Rick has a boombox on his front rack. He was one of several riders playing music.
At Bathurst.
Garrison Crossing.
We ended the ride at Trillium Park at the suggestion of Gerry D.
Thanks to everyone who came out tonight to show that we can do a group ride with social distancing.
Thanks also to all of those who helped with the corking.
I was asked when the next ride was. Remember, last Friday of the month, meet up at Bloor and Spadina, and ride at 6:30. The route is up to whoever is at the front of the pack. Ride safe folks!

I almost didn’t make it to the ride (thought it was at 6:15pm!) from jane-finch mall. Helping someone with their television (the “smart” part they didn’t understand).
It was disappointing that my tripod essentially “dumped” my camera crossing Bathurst at Richmond over those tracks (oh man are they BUMPY!!). Shame! Next time I’ll use the super stable tripod.
At the same time, I recovered the wireless bike computer component (the major part) of a fellow rider and it was later returned to them.
Yeah, it sucks to lose anything on a group or solo ride/commute. Once lost a light (on the commute home, it was a cheap one, so no big deal) and police informed me I didn’t have one. Only then did I realise what happened.
All in all, the ride was amazing. It added to the 20k I did earlier, making it a total of 40k for today.
Looking forward to September’s ride!
Thank you to your group for bringing awareness.
