This evening’s weather didn’t follow the usual script. The winds were low and under the legal limit all the way through, and so it was an advantage to have run early rather than late, simply because of the warmer temperatures and more light before sunset. By whatever voodoo they were using, Aerovelo picked the first slot in the first heat, and this turned out well for them as Todd pushed his world record to 86.5 mph.
There were a couple of other really happy racers tonight. In particular, Teagan went over 60 mph for the first time in only her third ride on her new bike Seiran. Here she is transiting in front of the setting sun.
The other happy folks were the Italian team, when Andrea Gallo went 70.16 mph.
The riders in the third heat were disadvantaged by a very long delay after the second heat due to a car parked near 2.5 miles without keys, and some debris that had fallen off of the back of Larry’s a particular racer’s pickup. Damjan had to wait for a long time bolted into Eivie which I’m sure did not enhance his performance.
