It was cold at timing early this morning.
The first heat had only two bikes, and both riders had slots in the second heat, so they decided to scratch and start later, effectively pushing their start time back by about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this didn’t help enough, and all runs had winds to strong. This is a particular problem for Shinsuke, as he is the second fastest male rider, but he doesn’t yet have a legal run.
Mike Mowett comes in at the end of the heat.
In the next heat, Ken upped his top speed for the week significantly, earning himself another speeding ticket. I see that Arion 3 was stickered up overnight.
MQ1 looking a bit worse for wear after yesterday’s crash.
Calvin elected not to run in the next heat, despite favourable wind. He’ll have one more shot at 80 mph tonight.
Aniek finally got a wind legal run, going 72.68 mph, which is a new Dutch Women’s record, and also makes her the second fastest woman in the world.
In the final heat, Barbara set her fastest time of the week at 66.31 mph, but it looks like she will end up much slower than she has been in Tempest.

Start order for tonight:
Key point: Calvin wants to go 80 mph, and Shinsuke needs at least one wind legal run. Â Fingers crossed.
Update: Apparently Aniek didn’t have a legal start (i.e. no assistance after 15 m) and this information was radioed to her, so she didn’t really sprint, and still went 72 mph.
