This morning kicked off with one heat of 2.5 mile runs as per earlier in the week. Alyssa announced at breakfast that “everything hurts” and elected to scratch. This left Matilde to make her debut in Taurus X, and she went 49.8 mph, but with non-legal wind.
Unfortunately Cerebus DNF’ed again, but as you will see they got another chance later this morning.
The entire first 5 mile heat was scratched as people seemed to think that the winds would die down if they waited until after 8:30. Adam crashed in Wahoo due to a flat tire, and he told me that he was on track for 75 mph. The bike was a bit scraped up, but not too bad. Larry is working on the bike in front of the Super 8 as I type this.
Next up: Noah went 58.13 mph, his fastest of the week, but not legal wind as you can see from the ribbon.
Lincoln Macdonald went a bit slower than yesterday in Cyclone, clocking 52.11 mph.
Next heat: Francois must have decided once again that the conditions were not ideal as he coasted through the traps at 78.85 mph. At least the winds were legal, earning him that black 75 mph hat. Then Andrea went 75.13 mph. Martina followed at 63.43 mph, and finally Peter at 52.19 mph. There was a headwind all morning that hovered around the legal limit (unfortunately mostly above the limit).
Finally it was decided to tack on an extra heat for Diego in Cerberus alone, and he successfully navigated the 5 mile run with a timed speed of 39.84 mph. Apparently he was cranking only about a third of the time, with the rest being dedicated to keep the trike on the road.
BTW sweep got an upgrade, just for this morning.
Here are the results.
It’s now 2:30 PM and I can hear an approaching thunderstorm. Somewhat unlikely that we will be able to run this evening, but we can always hope.
Start lists for this evening and Thursday morning.
